Story
THE BEGINNING
The story of Hittegods began in the summer of 2002 when Anssi, HP and Mikko met for the first time together and played some rock’n’roll in Mannhai’s rehearsal room in Cabel Factory, Helsinki. The band played some familiar cover songs and bass, drums, guitars and vocals all sounded fabulous. Since this first gathering it was crystal clear to everybody that a band should be formed as soon as possible. It took then some time after that to find a place where to play and that happened in March 2003 when Hittegods got a rehearsal room on Iso Robertinkatu in downtown Helsinki.
ORIGINAL MATERIAL
Right from the start the band started working on original material written by Anssi and Mikko. Due to everybody’s love for 70’s and 80’s hard rock and metal bands the music has been all the time classic hard rock with effective riffs and melodic verses and choruses. Some of the first songs the band wrote were “Out There”, “We Believe In Rock’n’Roll” and “No Matter How Much”, all songs still sometimes included in our live set. Today Hittegods has plenty of original material to play but we also include cover songs on our set lists depending on venue and audience.
NAME FOR THE BAND
Many names were suggested in the early days but nothing suitable came up until the word Hittegods was found accidentally at some point later in 2004. Hittegods is actually Swedish word for “Lost property”.
GIGGING STARTED
Gigging started in 2004 and ever since the band has played around southern Finland in many different venues, mostly in rock clubs and bars but also in private parties and outdoor venues. We’ve also supported some well known bands including Dr Feelgood and Ben Granfelt Band. All bookings have been made by Anssi.
GOING TO STUDIO
The first demo titled “Free Rider” was recorded in December 2005 with Jaakko Kujala in Helsinki. In April 2007 the band recorded “All For Rock’n’Roll” demo and “Flower Power” demo was recorded in May/June 2008. First three demos were recorded and co-produced by Jaakko Kujala in his studio in Helsinki. The fourth demo titled "You Reap What You Sow" was recorded with Olli Kykkänen in April 2009 in SoundTrack Studios in Helsinki and in Neveland Studios Porvoo. All demos have gained mostly excellent reviews. Good reviews in media plus very positive feedback on gigs have given the band lots of confidence to continue in the same original hard rock style with effective riffs and melodic verses and choruses.
HITTEGODS’ MISSION
Hittegods’ mission is to write and play original hard rock for rock fans everywhere and have fun doing it.
The main goal is record contract and booking agent with whom the band could be taken to the next level as a well known and respected rock band in Finland and abroad.
We strongly believe in ourselves and our music and know that hard work and confidence will take us a long way further on the road of Rock’n’Roll.
